What is the interview process for Re:link lawyers?
The expertise of our Re:link lawyer community is fundamental to our offering. We ask our applicants to undertake a simple but comprehensive interview process After a successful first interview with the Re:link team, you will be invited to an interview with a Linklaters partner(s).
What type of work would I do?
Assignments for Re:link lawyers typically fall into two main categories:
- Client: working directly with our priority clients, whether through secondment commitments or supporting them with major projects, interim vacancy cover or providing specialist skills.
- Internal: joining one of the Linklaters practice teams to deliver the firm’s client work.
Re:link assignments offer high-profile, stimulating work reflective of the high-calibre clients we work with. We will match your skills, experience, and aspirations with appropriate assignments for you.
How quickly can I join the Re:link platform?
We aim to onboard Re:link lawyers to our platform as quickly as possible and depending on the availability of roles that we believe will suit the individual in question. We have a target schedule for each phase of the application and onboarding process, and we will keep you updated throughout.
Key factors that determine the time to complete the process are scheduling interviews, the availability of suitable roles and the level of client demand for specific skillsets, speed of background screening checks and obtaining references.
Do I have to work exclusively for Re:link?
We do not require lawyers to work exclusively for Re:link, although we strive to provide the best legal opportunities and the strongest community for flexible lawyers and legal consultants.
We do require Re:link lawyers to maintain client confidentiality obligations at all times and to ensure that any assignments do not raise conflicts of interest (the Re:link team will provide guidance).
Do I need to obtain my own practising certificate?
Yes, it is the responsibility of Re:link lawyers to ensure they have a valid practising certificate.
What are the contractual arrangements for Re:link assignments?
Our assignments are structured as fixed term contracts (FTC), and we would only accommodate engaging under a personal services company (PSC) in very limited situations.
Under the FTC model, the Re:link lawyer signs a registration letter to enrol onto the Re:link platform. For each assignment, the Re:link lawyer will enter into a FTC with Re:link which sets out the terms of that specific placement.
Do I need the right to work in the UK?
Yes, for UK-based assignments you will need evidence to confirm your right to work. We generally expect Re:link lawyers to be UK tax residents. If your circumstances differ, please contact a member of the Re:link team to discuss further.
How do I find out what assignments are on offer?
Once you are successfully onboarded onto the Re:link platform, the Re:link team will consider you for all suitable assignments. The Re:link team will be in regular contact with you to share any opportunity that matches your expertise.
How qualified do I need to be?
There is not a minimum qualification requirement for Re:link lawyers and we welcome applications from lawyers at all stages of their career, whether or not they have previous legal contracting experience. We focus on the quality of candidates and their ability to support Linklaters clients and practice teams.
How is remuneration determined?
The remuneration paid to Re:link lawyers will vary across assignments and take into account a wide range of factors including market rates for similar work undertaken by legal consultants, seniority of role, role responsibilities, industry, market conditions and client budget. The Re:link team will discuss salary expectations with you during your application and onboarding process.
Our assignments are usually structured as fixed term contracts (FTC). Under a FTC, we will pay you a monthly salary or a fixed daily or hourly rate, depending on the assignment monthly. If engaging through a PSC in exceptional circumstances, the PSC will submit invoices monthly.
